Taking Stock

Spring has arrived in Central Florida. We have our glads planted and our lawn fed. We were finally blessed with rain this weekend. A bonus for the watering we've had to do. The rose bushes have emerged from just the stick form they were only two weeks ago, to beautiful green plants filled with buds. The first to bloom this year was Mr. Lincoln, followed by Queen Elizabeth, and then the goreous Peace rose.

It's a good time of year for taking stock, although I don't know the origin of that phrase. For me, it's literal. After planting the seeds almost 18 months ago, I'm finally able to take stock: the pretty pink and lavendar flowers you see here. It was worth the wait and I am grateful for the outcome.

Miracle Week

I just spent a week with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson in Atlanta. I'm calling it my miracle week. You see, I got there in a round-about way. Not exactly a planned trip. The first miracle is that I didn't get the cold that was going around her place, though I wiped many a runny nose. Secondly, the weather was warm and sunny, so we had many good times playing outside. The previous week it had snowed there and when I was leaving, it turned a cold 37 degrees with rain. Thirdly, it was a very important week for my daughter to transform into "Working Lady" with important sessions at the State Capitol on behalf of families who need special insurance coverage (hers being one of them).
Lastly, it was miraculous how my grandson accepted the change since he usually has separation anxiety. We had a grand time together and I think it was easier for him since his mom and I look so much alike. I'm grateful that all these things came together spontaneously. Miracles happen.

Our Great Grandson

Here it is at last! The first picture of our Great Grandson held by our first Grandson. He is only hours old. Sure wish we were there. Florida is far from Connetticut.

Oh Happy Day

Announcing a big event. March 10, 2009 we became Great Grandparents. We welcomed our first Grandson's first child into the family, even though we are miles away. It's a boy! and from what I hear, all are doing fine. My first daughter's son is a father. It's the circle of life. For this I am grateful. Hope I get pictures soon. You can be sure I'll post them here when I do.

Spring in the Garden

We have visitors in our home this week. Hubby's sister and niece are here from Georgia. We have taken the opportunity to tour Leu Gardens and Museum Home. Every tour we take of the house, we learn something new. The weather is perfect, like nature's air conditioning and the azaleas and camellias were still in bloom. The rose garden was cut back as severely as mine, but the flower clock was still gorgeous. How delightful to have such a haven in the city.
