What Didn't Freeze

Today, it feels more like Florida. After another hard freeze on Thursday and Friday, we are out in the yard assessing the damage and enjoying a more normal temperature: 69. We have no business complaining compared to the terrible time they are having north of us, but we haven't experienced two hard freezes in one winter in all the time I can remember. The birdbath was frozen solid again and that is our true test. But, here on the north side of the house, the Poinsettia plant came through without harm as well as the Hens and Chicks. Neither was covered and we were surprised and delighted. The aloe vera plant which is blooming survived as well. Time will tell how much of the brown plants and bushes will sprout again in spring.
